Diagnosed in April with advanced cancer, Florence Shapiro accepted her condition with the grace and elegance that was her signature. Florence died at home on August 9 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born in Paris on October 22, 1943 from Marcel Leibovici and Margaret Leibovici Nee Kelly. attended school in France and immigrated to the United States in 1973. Professionally, Florence obtained her Nevada real estate licensed and became a Realtor in 1973. Due to her hard work, dedication and determination, she quickly became a leader in the industry. Florence has been continuously acclaimed locally and nationally for her performance, the quality of her work, her ethics and generosity in mentoring others. Her Parisian elegance and infectious smile were her personal brand, and she shall be missed by all who had honor to cross her path. Within the Berkshire Hathaway franchise, she and partner Ivan Sher created in 2005 the Shapiro and Sher Group, the consistent leader in high end market property sales for the Las Vegas area. Florence was married in Las Vegas in 1978 to Melvin Shapiro (deceased) and is now reunited with the love of he life. She is survived by her brother Patrick Leibovici and his wife Tricia, nephew Sean and his wife Cassie, niece Michelle Leibovici of Colorado, her brother Francis Leibovici of France and his children Alexandra and Richard, her niece Anouska Leibovici of Dubai and husband Alex, her stepson David Shapiro and wife Lisa of Las Vegas, step daughter Barbara Owens and her children Molly and Oliver, and stepson Danny Shapiro of California. In lieu of flowers, Florence, a donor herself, would appreciate donations to be made to Opportunity Village and Nathan Adelson Hospice.
