Eugenia Catalina Cadavona was a highly organized, practical, and realistic woman who carried a strong sense of duty with her throughout her life. She held traditional morals and clearly communicated just who she was and what she was all about. Everyone who knew her knew that she was well-respected and a stable force in their lives.
Eugenia was born on May 9, 1942 to Ruperto Magaoay and Maria Zamora. She was raised in the Philippines with her sister, Avelina Valdez; and brother, Art Magaoay. She began working at an early age for Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company where she was employed as a field worker for 31 years until her retirement in 1997. Eugenia was dependable and held a strong work ethic throughout her life. She was taught to be responsible and was known to always do everything with efficiency. She was an excellent project supervisor who could quickly make decisions based on the information available. She worked cooperatively and expected the same from her colleagues.
Being a mother was Eugenia’s greatest joy in life. She was ever watchful of her children, and maintained a firm hand in their development as they grew up. She was blessed with her daughter, Bella Cadavona; and her son, Efren (Tammy) Cadavona. She was later blessed with three grandchildren, Ryan Viloria, Robert (Sheree) Cadavona, and Kaitlyn Cadavona; and two great-grandchildren, Melanie and Rayna.
Whenever she wasn’t working, she loved spending time with her family. She also loved to cook and garden outside. After her retirement, Eugenia took every opportunity she could to travel. Some of her favorite vacations included Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. Her Catholic faith was important to her, and she held deep spiritual beliefs that she was willing to share. She was a longtime member of Christ the King Church in Maui.
Eugenia passed away on August 19, 2022 at home in Las Vegas, Nevada after suffering from Alzheimer's and Dementia. She is survived by her two children, her three grandchildren, and her two siblings. Services were held at Palm Southwest Mortuary and she was laid to rest at Palm Eastern Cemetery.
All who knew her would agree that Eugenia was a source of strength and support in their lives. She always thought before she acted, and was someone her family knew they could go to with anything. She was willing to share her ideas and knowledge with others, and loved to watch her family thrive and accomplish what they set out to do. Eugenia did her best to ensure that her family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched was given the chance to live their lives to their fullest potential, and she will be deeply missed.
