Eleanor T. Ruf, 96, an 18-year resident of Las Vegas, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010. She was born March 20, 1914, in Rochester, New York. Eleanor retired from the Rochester Telephone Company, where she was a long-distance operator. She was a member of the Frontier Pioneers Genesee Chapter #37. Eleanor was a loving mother and to many a devoted, caring friend. She loved to knit, a lifelong hobby. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann Ruf and James T. Barrett of Nevada; nieces, Janet M. Winghart and Doris A. Draper of Florida; nephews, John K. Winghart of New York, and Dean G. (Karen) May of Colorado; great-niece and great-nephew, Hayley and Tyler May of Colorado; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will be held in Colorado and New York in the spring. Burial in Irondequoit Cemetery, Irondequoit, New York. Eleanor loved her home at Silver Sky Assisted Living. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone there for their loving, thoughtful care and support. Friends wishing may make contributions to the charity of their choice in Eleanor's memory.
