Edgar Jefferson St. John, 86, of Las Vegas, passed away on Friday, 20 July 2012. He was born 4 April 1926 in Oklahoma City, OK and was a 37-year resident of Las Vegas. Ed began his military career as a Marine, then spent the majority of his career IN the US Army as a Lt. Col. In 1970; after having proudly served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War he retired from the US Army. He was a great lover of life, his many interests including professional bag piping, amateur radio, golfing, sailing, fishing, and bowling.
Ed became a Master Mason on 20 February 1956 in Nahe Temple Lodge No. 824 in Idar-Oberstein, Germany. He joined the Scottish Rite in 1957. He was a Past Master of the Saint John Lodge No. 18, Pioche, NV. He received his 50 year Pin, Certificate and the Scottish Rite's Blue Hat in Las Vegas on 7 June 2007.
He was also a member of the York Rite College, Zelzah Shrine, Kilkenny Council No. 33 and a life member of the Royal Order of Scotland. In addition to the many organizations, he was a member of the Sons of Erin, member of the Order of the Kentucky Colonels, and a past president for the NV Sons of the American Revolution. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Terue; his daughters, Joy and Susan; and grandchildren, Maia and Jane; his sister, Margaret; and his beloved Westie, Teacup. Ed touched many lives; he was much loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 31st from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Shrine Temple, 2222 West Mesquite Avenue, Las Vegas, NV with the funeral service to immediately follow. A graveside Service and internment will be on Wednesday, August 1st at 1:20 p.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd, Boulder City, NV.
