Earl King Hardin

Earl King Hardin was born December 28, 1939 in Newellton, Louisiana, to Katie Osley and Willie Hardin, Sr. They both preceded him in death. On June 14, 2017, the Angel of the Lord announced the completion of Earl’s final construction project here on earth and called him home. Earl united with the Second Baptist Church in 1986. Earl moved to Las Vegas in 1950 and attended Westside and Madison schools where he played drums in the band. At the age of twelve, Earl shined shoes on Fremont Street earning a pocketful of silver dollars. He also worked at the Frontier, Dunes, and Stardust hotels. Eventually he went to work at Western Linen where he met and married his wife, Dorothy Ruth “Dot” on March 17, 1960. In 1962, Earl joined the Cement Mason’s Union #797 and worked all over Las Vegas doing construction and finishing cement. He also worked at the Test Site in Area 51 for many years. Earl also owned and operated Vegas Valley Cement and Hardin Concrete. His daughter, Veneda Laverne Hardin and brothers George Osley, Jr., and Willie Hardin, Jr., preceded him in death. Earl leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Ruth “Dot” Hardin; his children Michael Dean Hardin (Candy), Frederick Fitzgerald Hardin, Cassandra Hardin Polydoor and Debra Hardin of Las Vegas; Raymond Earl Thrower of Bearden, Arkansas and Jackie Shaw of Modesto, California; a brother, James Henry Lewis and two sisters, Catherine (Jewel) Williams and Carolyn (Lonnie) Rainey all of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
