Dorothy was born in New York on February 1, 1923, and lived in the Las Vegas area for almost 56 years. She retired early in life and volunteered for almost 40 years at the Las Vegas Senior Center and with the Senior Tripsters. She was still planning and leading tours well into her 90's. While volunteering, she entered the Las Vegas Pageant of the Ms. Senior Nevada. She won and became the first Ms. Senior Nevada in 1986. She represented Nevada at the Ms. Senior America in Atlantic City and finished 3rd Runner-Up, and was selected by the other contestants as Ms. Congeniality. Dorothy became the face of the Ms. Senior Nevada pageants, performing all over the city and state. Dorothy was a beloved wife, mother, grandma and GG (great grandma). She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George Guralnik; her daughter, Roberta Leavitt; and her son-in-law, Jerry Leavitt. She is survived by son, Ken; daughter-in-law; Theresa; three grandchildren, Jackie Leavitt, Joe Leavitt and his wife Casey, and Krysta Howard and her husband Britton; and four glorious great grandchildren, Hunter, Alice, Coleman and Maze.
Dorothy's family is having a private burial and funeral. Dorothy always had a "cup half-full" perspective on life. She would ask that we not mourn her death, but rather celebrate her life. Hence, a celebration of her life is scheduled for March 2, 2020.
