Donna M. Richardson was born to Onan Cotman and Betty M. Jackson on January 21, 1941 in Hillsboro, Ohio. She was the oldest among her three sisters: Marsha, Angela and the late Sandy Pierce (who preceded Donna in death).
Donna graduated from Manual Arts Catholic School in Los Angeles, California. She lived in California in the 1960s with her daughters, Debbie and Karen. Then, Donna met and married U.S. Marine Corp Staff Sargent James Richardson on Valentine’s Day – February 14, 1965 and they were married for 57 years.
Donna was a homemaker, a family caregiver, a community volunteer, and a faithful Christian-believer. She was very active in the Friends of Distinction Club and a staunch supporter of military veterans. In the 1980s, Donna became a Mary Kay Cosmetics representative and rose through the ranks to become a Regional Director. Donna loved to travel, dance and play cards. She was a fierce competitor and especially loved playing Bid Whist. Donna left many competitors wondering how they lost after she would skillfully “snap and slap” the winning card.
With much care and dignity, Donna joined the church triumphant on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 after having lived bravely with illness for several years. Donna is survived by her loving and dutiful husband, James Richardson (Las Vegas, NV); her daughters, Deborah Ann Smith (Las Vegas, NV) and Karen Smith Mackey (Henderson, NV); two sisters, Marsha Ford (Long Beach, CA) and Angela Cyrus (Tucson, AZ); five grandchildren: Coyale Walker, Isaiha Wilson, Jerri Walker, Donna Clark, and Kenyae Mackey; five great grandchildren: Johnae Tolden, Jonavin Tolden, Jaylen Holton, and Jaylonnie Holton; four great-great grandchildren: Alyna Mackey, Joylyn Mackey, Journey Mackey, and Zion Mackey; and three great-great-great grand children: King, Harmony and Halo; and special niece, Tracy Pierce (Anaheim, CA). She will be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends: Dorothy and Ron Williams, Bill and Diane Dozier, Ruby Williams and her adopted Few Family, who will miss Donna – mother, sister, daughter and friend – forever and ever. Amen.
