Diane was born on November 4, 1943 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Travis B. Smith and Mary Algene Spear Smith and was raised in the San Diego area with her younger sister Linda Johnson. As a young person, she sought to learn more about Jesus Our Savior and loved the inspirational songs of Jesus and His love. God has certainly blessed Diane in so many wonderful ways.
Diane married the love of her life, Frank Nicholas Bolshazy, on October 21, 1972, moved around the world together in the nomadic life of a military family and settled into the next phase of their life in Las Vegas. Diane and Nick celebrated their 50th anniversary last fall. Her beautiful life will be cherished and honored through the lives of her husband and 3 children, Melinda McCue (Reggie), Melissa Vega (Frank) and David Bolshazy (Stacy); 5 grandchildren Ryan McCue (Lauryn), Connor McCue, Mark Vega, Rebekah Bolshazy (Jesús Laracuente), Andrew Bolshazy (Devanie) and her 4 great grandchildren.
Diane cherished her role as a mother “the most important job she could ever have” and was blessed to be a full-time Mom for most of her children’s upbringing. Impacting the lives of so many throughout her life, she shared her caring and nurturing spirit in her roles as Mom, Girl Scout leader, Special Education teacher, and many years as an Army Wife. Guiding young women through the maze of serving as a military wife, Diane supported them as a friend, a sister, a mentor, and sometimes even a mom. She leaves behind a legacy of love, the value of family, and serving others.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that you honor Diane by sharing a flower and a smile with a stranger, or through a donation to the National Kidney Foundation. She strongly supported the opportunity for young people to have a longer and happy life through a kidney transplant.
Diane will be laid to rest in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery , 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, Nevada 89005.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmnorthwest.com for the Bolshazy family.
