Deborah Susie Thomas was the daughter of Tyree and Charliestine Young and was raised in Southside of Chicago, Illinois. Deborah was raised with five siblings. She had three older brothers, Harold, Charles, and Thomas and two younger sisters, Geraldine and Vanessa. She graduated from Calumet High School in 1968. She graduated at the top of her class with her License Practical Nursing Degree. On April 14, 1970 Deborah married Johnny Lee Thomas, Sr. in Chicago, Illinois. Deborah was blessed with five children; four sons, Tyree, Aubrey, Louis, and Johnny Jr. and one daughter, Dominique. Her primary occupation was private duty nursing for years before leaving the industry to work for Chicago Transit Authority where she worked for nearly twenty years being promoted several times. Deborah was ultimately a controller for the trains. She finished her career as an LPN and headed the nursing staff of several establishments. She was a devoted member of Self realization Fellowship for nearly twenty years. Deborah Thomas passed away on July 9, 2013 at home in Las Vegas, Nevada. She fought a long courageous battle against cancer. She is survived by her children Tyree, Aubrey, Louis, Johnny Jr, and Dominique; her grandchildren Sheniqka, Tyree Jr, Jaelyn, Preston, Zarbria, Amari, Tyshon, Messiah, and Zachary;her mother Charliestine and her siblings Harold, Charles, Geraldine (Keith) and Vanessa. Services were held at Palm Northwest Mortuary.
