David Gene Scanlan

We regret to announce the passing of David Gene Scanlan, aged 80, who passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024 in Las Vegas, NV.

David was a motor officer for 15 years with the Inglewood Police Department in Inglewood, CA. He was a respected member of his profession and known for being the head instructor at the motorcycle school for the police department. He was educated at El Camino College and Cal State - Long Beach, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, David was a beloved husband to Mariann, and a devoted father to his sons, David and Patrick and additionally had four daughters, Justine, Christine, Cathy and Joie. His giving nature made him a cherished and loyal friend to many.

In his free time, David enjoyed watching all types of sports, writing music and playing the guitar, which brought him joy and relaxation. His biggest passion was coaching his kids in soccer and baseball.

David is survived by his wife, Mariann, his children, David, Patrick, Justine, Christine, and Cathy and his nine grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NV on July 19, 2024 at 11:00am PST, with interment to follow at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA.
