March 20, 1951 - July 22, 2018
David (Dave) Lee Hoagland, 67, “got the call” on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada where he was surrounded by his family. Dave was born March 20, 1951 to Richard and Miriam Hoagland in Garfield Heights, Ohio, the youngest of three children. His family relocated to Dover Place in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1953 where he lived until he graduated from Clark High School in 1969.
Dave attended UNLV until he entered the US Air Force in 1971. He served at Nellis Air Force Base until he was honorably discharged in July of 1975. During his service, he met his beautiful bride and wife of 46 years, Marsha Sue Hoagland. They were married in 1972 and had 2 daughters. His 3 angels were his world.
Dave and his family moved to Redondo Beach California in 1986 where much of his career was spent in construction. He worked as a Project Manager for Corporate Builders and later as an Estimator for Taslimi Construction until 2004. Some of his projects widely known in LA were the Univison and New Line Cinema buildings. Dave and Marsha moved back to Las Vegas in 2004 where Dave worked for Lucky Strike and Terra Nova Industries until 2016 when he was forced to give up the career he loved due to his health.
Those who knew Dave loved listening to him tell a story or a joke. Family and friends would flock to him and he would always joke that it was “difficult being the most popular person in the room.” When he wasn’t spending time with his family, you could find him fishing, boating, shooting at the range, or riding his motorcycle. Dave always found time to help relatives and friends with household projects, build a treehouse that the neighborhood kids envied, design award winning science projects or whatever else people needed him for.
Dave is survived by his wife, Marsha; daughters, Jennifer (Wade) Schaertel and Kristin Hoagland (Chris Eagle); grandchildren, Austin Schaertel, and Grayson Waldock; mother, Miriam Hoagland; sisters, Diane (Jim) Heinz and Dawn Navarro; numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family. Dave was a loving father, husband, papa and friend to everyone.
