David graduated from Wentzville High School in Wentzville, Missouri in 1978. He went on to State of Nevada Construction – Manufacturing Apprenticeship Training for his Electrical Wireman and received his Journeyman Wireman Diploma on June 1, 1993. David worked as a Journeyman Wireman on the majority of the Las Vegas Strip Hotel new construction builds that changed our Las Vegas cityscape forever. He was most proud to have worked on the 2008 Hoover Dam bypass bridge project where his life literally hung in the air every day for nineteen months. After 28 years working in both Southern and Northern Nevada, David hung up his electrical circuit tester for a much-deserved retirement on December 31, 2021. David was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local No. 357, his extended family of friends.
David enjoyed the outdoors for hunting, fishing, cycling, and was an avid collector of firearms. David was a proud member of the Masonic Oasis #41 as a Master Mason marking the 4th generation of his family in the Masonic Order. For fun, David would drive his Chevy pick-ups to go on “walk-about” to visit family and friends, and never turned down a good steak or a cold Budweiser.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Harris, his father, Edward Harris, Sr. and his nephew, Tyler Cacavas. He is survived by his brothers, Edward, Jr. and John, sisters Susan Paulauskas, Terri Meyer and Linda Moilanen as well as his Aunt Connie Harbison. Surviving nephews and nieces are Nick Paulauskas, Lauren Paulauskas, Kyle Meyer, Alexandra Meyer, Edward Harris, III, Gerald Harris, Katherine Harris, Emily Cacavas, Wil Harris, Harley Harris and Vivian Harris.
“Uncle David’s” greatest love was for all his nieces and nephews. He was always proud of their artwork, accomplishments, and educational successes. David was a “One of a Kind” person to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 pm.
Fond memories and expressions of love and sympathy may be shared at www.palmeastern.com for the Harris family.
