Christine Stephens, beloved wife and mother, passed away May 3, 2022, at the age of 71. She was an extraordinary and remarkable woman who courageously overcame tremendous obstacles and seemingly insurmountable odds her whole life. She embraced and lived life to the fullest and never ever knew the meaning of giving up. Christine was born Dec 4, 1950 in Escanaba, MI to her late parents, Raymond and Marie Therrian. She grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and received her B.S. degree from Northern Michigan University and her M.S. degree from Jacksonville State University. Christine proudly served her nation as a Captain in the U.S. Army. She was the first cohort of women to transfer from the Women's Army Corps into the regular U.S. Army and was commissioned into the Military Police Corps. She was one of the first women to successfully complete Airborne training and become a U.S. Army Paratrooper. Through her tenacity, hard work and dedication, she was a pioneer for future generations of women to serve their country as soldiers in the U.S. Army. After leaving the Army, Christine worked for the Walt Disney Corporation; the Orange County FL Department of Corrections; was an Adjunct Professor for St Leo University, FL; and was the Director of Classification for the Nevada State Women's Prison in Las Vegas. In 2001 she established her own business and was the Broker/Owner of Kasa Realty m Las Vegas. She successfully ran her real estate company until her retirement in 2013. Christine's greatest accomplishments were her family and her marriage of 41 years. She is survived by her husband, James Stephens; Her son, Karl Stephens and fiancée Bailey Hampson; Sister Kathy (Jim) Spriks and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sarah Stephens and her brother, Rodney Therrian. Christine leaves a legacy of honoring God, loving her family and serving her nation. As a Christian and a woman of deep faith, she knew that she would be reunited with the Lord and her family for all eternity. Viewing will be from 3:00 — 7:00 PM, Monday, May 23, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Memorial Service will be at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, May 24, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial DR, Boulder City, NV.
