On Thursday, July 9th, 2021, Brenda Vanderberry, wife, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away in her sleep due to complications of cancer at the age of 60 years. Brenda will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend Rob, by her parents Gary and Judy Nitz, and her brother Daren. Brenda will also be forever remembered by her nieces, extended family, and dear friends. Brenda grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and graduated from Denver University. She married Rob in the summer of 1985, and they spent the next 36 years in a variety of adventures across the United States, aided by Rob’s time in the Air Force, finally settling in Las Vegas, Nevada. Brenda lived her life with passion and was as authentic, demonstrative, direct, clear, and candid a person as one could engage with on a regular basis while still thoroughly enjoying her company. If you did not want to know the answer, you did not want to ask her the question! A fighter until the end, Brenda did not lose her battle with cancer. She and the cancer died on her terms, in her own home, in her own bed, surrounded by love. At Brenda’s request, there will be no service. She asked that you direct whatever resources and loving thoughts you have to those you love and to living life to the fullest; acknowledging that we do not get to choose how we die, but we can certainly choose how we live.
