Beverly Ann Hary Phillips Bullerdick passed away at 84 on April 22, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana to Albert “Bud” Hary and Eva Van Arands. She graduated from Wiley High School in 1953 and remained close with many of her classmates over the decades. They even started their own club, Friends Always, to stay in touch. Beverly married Malcolm “Mac” Phillips in 1954 and together they had two daughters, Connie and Karen.
When their daughters were young, Beverly used to help her mother at her knit shop, The Knitting Nook, teach knitting lessons. She began her working career at the American Can Company, where she gained knowledge in Personnel. She eventually became the Head of Personnel at Union Hospital and was elected as President of the Indiana State Hospital Personnel Association. In 1976, she married Jerry Bullerdick. They moved to California in 1986, where she first worked as office manager for Dr. George Ching. She worked for a time at Chromizing and then became the Personnel Assistant for the city of El Centro. Beverly and Jerry eventually retired to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Beverly loved collecting Longaberger Baskets, home decorating, knitting, and taking care of her beloved dogs. She even made her own curtains. She took her grandson golfing and even entered him in a children’s tournament where he placed first in putting. And even though her family was spread apart, she always made sure her grandchildren were in each other’s lives. Over Thanksgiving holidays, she would pass down the family recipe of homemade noodles (a family tradition) to all her grandchildren, who called her Nana. In her retirement, she enjoyed cruising the golf course with her husband, going to see Paul Anka and Neil Diamond, visiting the Bellagio Fountain & Conservatory, and having margaritas at their favorite Mexican restaurant. Beverly was a fan of fashion and worked part time at Coldwater Creek Clothing Store; one of her favorite jobs. She never considered herself fashionable, but her granddaughters would disagree.
Beverly is survived by her husband Jerry, daughters Connie Phillips Pruett and Karen Phillips Tofte, stepchildren Lori Bullerdick and Timothy Bullerdick, grandchildren Heather Burke Smit, Nicholas Pruett, Ashley Pruett, and Megan Pruett O’Hara, great-grandchildren Kayden, Cheyenne, Mackenzie, Makayla, Gemma, Braelynn, Aria, Paige, Sailor and Finn. Her mid-western grit and spunky attitude will carry on in these lives she helped to shape.
She is loved and missed by her family. An Autumn Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
