Antonio Mendoza was one of a kind. He had a true talent for helping others reach their full potential and bring out the best in those who sought his help. Antonio was a forward-looking man whose personality was filled with empathy toward everyone he met. He could be quiet and reserved, but his style of communication was authentic and direct. As an excellent communicator, Antonio was a master at using imagery when he explained his ideas and concepts. His sensitivity, kindness and generous attitude made him a wonderful friend for all who knew him
From the time he was born on April 24, 1956, Antonio showed a deep concern for others. He was a giving and caring individual, ethical and full of integrity and warmth. Antonio came into this world at home in Jalisco, Mexico. His parents were Maria Alcazar and Antonio Mendoza. Antonio was raised by his mother in Jalisco, Mexico and California in the USA.
Family was very important to Antonio and he always tried to promote harmony with his siblings. He was the youngest of 5; he had 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He had older brothers Galdino and Rafael and two older sisters Baudelia and Elva. He was closest to his mother and sister Elva. Antonio was something of the family diplomat. He always tried to keep the peace.
As a young boy, Antonio was an independent person who had a vivid imagination. He had a number of interests in his youth. He was an active child. Antonio played spinning tops and in his spare time he worked in a market where he shoe shined.
A good student who was enthusiastic about learning, Antonio was considered by many to be a high achiever. He graduated from San Fernando, California in 1979. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite courses and teachers. His favorite class in high school was English.
Able to maintain a positive focus on the potential good to be found in others, Antonio was always ready with solid advice and guidance to offer his group of friends. He was generally friendly to all who knew him, yet to some he seemed quite independent. For those who really knew Antonio, they recognized that he could be full of surprises. Antonio enjoyed a small but solid group of true friends. He would willingly support those friends when they needed it. While growing up, some of his best friends were Father Carlos, Adrian Bautista, and Melquiades Bautista.
Antonio was romantic, even poetic at times. He wrote many love letters to conquest the love of his life Bertha. On January 17, 1987 Antonio exchanged wedding vows with Bertha Alicia Gonzalez at San Pascaual Bailon Church, Valle de Juarez Jalisco.
All who knew him would agree that there was a certain kind of magic in how Antonio was able to bond with his children. As a proud father, he would take many photos of his kids. Although he could be a firm disciplinarian, he had a soft heart. Antonio was always a mentor who helped his family reach its full potential. He would attend all of his children’s award and sport ceremonies. Antonio was blessed with 4, Elizabeth, Janet, Vivian and David. He was also blessed with 5 grandchildren, Dominick, Naythan, Ethan, Jacob, Sophie.
Antonio projected a subtle but positive influence in his workplace. He was comfortable working behind the scenes to help everyone get their job done and he worked hard at all times to help others to reach their highest potential. While his colleagues did not view him as a high-spirited type, Antonio was effective at working with others to gain acceptance for his ideas. Antonio could be a perfectionist at times, but wasn’t one to seek out personal recognitions. He possessed a strong need for organization and ability to meet schedules. He was an innovator who worked independently and in groups. His primary occupation was a Medicine Handler. He was employed for 30 years for 3M Pharmaceuticals.
As an imaginative and inventive person, Antonio was comfortable showing his creative spirit. He enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Once Antonio took on a new project, he saw it through to its completion. His favorite pursuits were swimming, bird watching, gardening, bicycling, playing guitar, singing in the choir, dancing and volunteering at his church. He was content to enjoy his hobbies alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Antonio was one who put forth his best effort in every aspect of his life. Recreational sports included walking, bike riding, and watching the Discovery channel. He enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife.
Antonio's attitude of working to make every day better was a way of life for him. It was a philosophy that he carried into his community, activities, and service. He served on the committees for the Encuentro Matrimonial at the following catholic churches: Mary Immaculate, Santa Rosa de Lima, and St Francis de Sales, St Antonio de Padua.
Antonio was a man with high principles, and his faith was very important to him. He was an inspiration to many people who recognized his sense of commitment and esteem for others. He was a member of the catholic church for over 40 years. During that time, he was very involved in the Encuentro Matrimonial.
Antonio was a well-respected man who was charitable in every way. He would contribute without hesitation for the benefit of others. Some of his most prestigious awards included Safety and Employee of the month awards at 3M pharmaceuticals.
Antonio was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of Antonio's favorites was Sweat pea, his Rottweiler. They were best friends for 10 years. His pet hen Shana followed him home one day and visits every single day.
Antonio looked forward to retirement and made the most of it. In 2015, he relocating to Las Vegas to be closer to his family. During his last four years he found new pleasure in his grandchildren and vacationing. Antonio enjoyed family vacations to Pismo Beach, Duck creek Utah. He looked forward to them every year.
Antonio passed away on April 24, 2019 at Centennial Hills Hospital, Las Vegas from a heart attack. He is survived by wife Bertha, children Elizabeth, Janet, Vivian and David, grandchildren Dominick, Naythan, Ethan, Jacob, and Sophie. Services were held at St Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church. Antonio was laid to rest in Palm Northwest Mortuary.
Though he could be a private person at times, Antonio was always able and willing to give of himself. He was so in tune with others that he often seemed able to read their minds. Antonio carried with him an almost mystical sense of life. He was a person who was highly original in his thinking and used metaphors and symbols to describe many aspects of his life. A poetic, intuitive “teacher”, Antonio Mendoza shared himself freely and family and friends will remember Antonio for his kind heart, positive outgoing personality and leadership skills.
