Anthony Turner was born on January 18, 1960 to Bernice Turner and Fred Richardson, now deceased. Anthony was born and raised in the Las Vegas valley. He grew up in Henderson where he graduated from Basic High School. He went on to receive a BA in Education from UNLV. Anthony's choice of study reflected his love of teaching and belief in being a role model to young people. Although he had no children he loved and nurtured his nieces and nephews as if they were his own.
Anthony taught in several junior high and high schools as a teacher for more than ten years. He left the school system to pursue a career in gaming. His last position was as a Floor-man at Mandalay Bay Resorts. Every where Anthony worked he touched the hearts of his co-workers. He had a permanent smile, and a laughed that made you laugh with him.
He was an avid reader and those who knew him best were members of a book club or reading group. A novel was permanently attached to his hand. If you asked about a book, you needed to be prepared for a 30 minute dissertation on the plot, the characters and whether he liked the style of the author...he was the quite the intellect.
Anthony had a big heart and gave of himself openly and lovingly to family and friends. He will be missed. He is survived by his mother Bernice Turner and siblings,Vester McGee (Betty), Larry McGee (Sherry), Catherine Hildreth, Fred Turner (Dores), Ruby Johnson, Eileen Turner, Rachelle Rodgers (Michael), Darryl Turner, Debra Turner and Tricia Bell (Daniel) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Arrangements under the direction of Palm Downtown Funeral Home, Las Vegas, NV.
