Annie Lucile Hale was born on October 14, 1932, to Viola and William Dickerson. The family lived in Georgia, and included two other sisters and one brother. Around 1940, the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Upon graduation from high school in 1951, Annie joined the Army. She was stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas. During her Army service, she met and fell in love with Levester (Les) Hale.
Les and Dixie married after their Army service, and to this union was born one child, Deborah. In November, 1959, Les moved his family from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Los Angeles, California. Dixie worked numerous jobs, until earning a certificate in data entry in 1969. In 1970 she started working for stock brokerage advisory firm William O'Neil and Co., She worked there until retiring in 2001. Shortly after retiring, both Dixie and Les moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dixie loved God and was a member of Desert Harvest Mission Church. She and Les were active members, who served the church in whatever capacity was needed. Dixie enjoyed bowling and traveled internationally in tournaments along with Les for Continental Airlines. She also loved a lively card game and all kinds of music.
Dixie is survived by her loving daughter Deborah Nickens (Lloyd), granddaughter Leslie Nicole, grandson Steven Lloyd, sister-in-law Hazel Adams (Phoenix), brother-in-law Robert Holt (Atlanta) and a host of nieces and nephews, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Les, her mother Viola Gibson, (2) sisters Virginia and Geraldine, brother William Dickerson, Jr., and one son.
