Because your doctor merkin I'm still alive here today. I was born very premature and the only way that I survived infancy and childhood is through the Goodwill and knowledge the doctor Merkin demonstrated whenever my mom took me to see him so many years ago.

I too remember with happy memories of Dr. Merkin who had been my pediatrician as a child and Dr. Cap 1963  was his associate who delivered me as a baby .
 Dr. Merkin  was so professional and immaculate , his office was perfect and I remember all of the details of what a kind and patient doctor he was even though I was not the easiest little girl to deal with when his Nurse Had to give me my shots, I was terrified of shots , but there was always a reward before leaving the office , a little gift toy or candy 
I remember the nurses in there perfect traditional all white nurses uniforms in caps.
They were all true professionals and I will always be grateful.

I was waxing nostalgic today, reminiscing about my childhood and I thought about my pediatrician, Dr. Cap. I then recalled Dr. Merkin whom I would occasionally see as well. I decided to Google him and was saddened to learn of his passing, 8 yrs ago.  It's certainly not too late to express my condolences. I remember him fondly with his jet black hair and bow ties. There was an air about him, that as a child, I secretly wished he were my "official" doctor. I had horrible allergies as a kid and was in their East Charleston bungalow office 2x a week for those darn injections and the mandatory wait afterwards to see if there was an allergic reaction. He always offered a smile. How well I recall the stacks of comic books and Highlights Magazines and always Bazooka Bubble Gum and suckers. I fondly remember his 2 nurses too! Charlotte the attractive blonde with the perfectly coiffed hair and Avis the auburn haired sweet lady and both in their crisp white dresses, hats and nurse shoes. Dr. Merkin was a lovely man who left a lifelong impression of goodness on my little girl mind and heart. No doubt he's fulfilling his mission as a pediatrician to the Angel's above~

Dr Merkin was my pediatrician and my parents advisor

They decided not to send me to catholic school then because of the number of kids in ea class
I saw him , occasionally dr Cap 
Every week I was really sick but made it through because of his personal care

Dr. Merkin was my pediatrician when I was born in the late 60's.  I have many fond memories of him as my doctor.  I remember him always coming into the room with his tray he would carry with him.  He was a great doctor. When I had my first child in 1988 he was her pediatrician as well.  My son was born in 1991 and Dr. merkin took care of him as well.  I was sad when he retired, but knew it was time for him to enjoy his retirement.  He was a great doctor for me as well as my children.  The office was always packed and always had Highlight magazines that I would sit and read while we waited. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedications to the Las Vegas valley!!

Okay, I know I late very late but I just found it!  To my Merkin Family you'll always be in my heart.  It hurts my heart to know the person who gave me my first job coming out of Medical Assistant School.  Dr. Merkin I will always cherish the moments working you!  Love you! Sonia King (Richey)

I am so sorry to hear about your father/grandfather's passing.  Dr Merkin was my pediatrician from the 60s until the late 70s.  When I was in first grade he diagnosed me with a very rare form of double pneumonia that didn't show up on x-rays.  My mom always felt if it weren't for him I might not be here now.  We were very fortunate to have a doctor of his caliber in Las Vegas.  Thanks again for everything you did.

DR. Merkin was no ordinary doctor. He saved my little brother. we loved him.

I have fond and distinct memories of Dr. Merkin as my pediatrician from about 1956 or so.  I believe the office was on or around East Charleston Blvd.  He was a gentleman, an excellent caregiver and was very good at pacifying screaming children, myself included.  Job well done Dr. Merkin. Dr Merkin was a joy to work with. He was so kind to his patients, their families and we the nurses at the hospital. He always made sure there were comfort measures for even the tiniest kids. He was ahead of his time in treating pain in children. Again he was so good to the pediatric nurses. We will miss him.

Dr. Merkin did so much for our family. He and his family were truly generous people. When my brother was diagnosed with epilepsy, he would talk to my mother on the phone day and night. Dr. Merkin treated all six of us. When I was in the hospital as a youth, when he would stop by I was always at peace. The Danise family loves you Dr. Merkin. Words cannot express all you did for us. It is a debt we cannot repay. Dr. Ellen your father meant so much to us. God bless the Merkin family.

Dr. Merkin was the family pediatrician for 3 generations and also every one of the kids on our street. He was so loved by my daughter that she even begged to go see him once when she didn't get her way. I can't count how many times we have said we wish Dr. Merkin was still practicing that would have made 4 generations. Our prayers and thoughts are with your family. There will never be a Dr. as loved as Dr. Merkin.

My first memories of doctor visits are full of Dr. Merkin and his toy-filled waiting room.  He always seemed gruff and sometimes grumpy, but there was always kindness in his eyes.  When I needed stitches and had to be wrapped up from head to toe to hold me still, the first thing he said to me was, "I'll bet your nose is itching."  Then, of course, it did itch!  He chuckled and reached out to give my nose a gentle tug.  All my fears and tears just faded away.  My three siblings could share many stories of Dr. Merkin.  My mother had complete faith in him, as he doctored us through the typical childhood illness, and some very unusual ones, too!  My sympathies to his family.

I took my son to Dr. Merkin when very little.  My son was very ill and no other doctor could help him.  Dr.  Merkin saved my son's life.  He did a blood test and determined a blood deficiency requiring shots twice a month to rebuild the blood.  I am forever greatful for his efforts and his concern for the whole family.  I later went to his lovely daughter Ellen for my eye care.  She obviously learned much from her father.    He was a true hero in his field.  He will be dearly missed by so many who benefitted from his humanity.   Deepest sympathies to the family and especially Ellen.  Betty Codella Maguire Archambault

Im so sorry for the loss of your father. The doctor was a good man and a great neighbor. Im so glad I was able to spend an afternoon a few years ago with Ellen,dad and your mom. We told stories about our days growing up on Griffith Ave.

How well I remember doctors Albert Merkin, MD and Thaddeus Cap, MD practicing together. I took my two sons to them and in fact, he saved my first born son, Stephen, by referring him to LA Children's Hospital (1969) and their pediatric kidney specialist. He is alive and well,and now has his own practice here in Las Vegas. God bless you, Dr. Merkin.  God Bless your

Dr. Merkin was a great Doctor and a great man. When I was a mom for the first time and always being over concerned and cautious about my baby being sick he had this way of calming my fears and always took the extra time to comfort me. I was always comfortable with him and my children was as well. My condolences are with his family!
