Bill Hastings was a sergeant for 20 of his 30 years as a Pinellas County Deputy Sheriff and worked in almost all the divisions that the sheriff’s office has to offer. Shortly after retiring, Bill became 1 of the 8 state representatives for the Florida Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.) For the next 11 years, Bill would represent F.O.P. officers and deputies from all over the state, while also negotiating labor agreements with various county and city agencies throughout central Florida.
As a resident of Seminole, Bill enjoyed playing softball, hunting, coaching his son’s baseball teams, watching football (specifically the Miami Dolphins & Miami Hurricanes), watching and discussing Tampa Bay Rays baseball strategies with his son and only grandchild Ava. Bill also enjoyed eating at his favorite restaurant (Cracker Barrel) where he and Ava would battle each other playing checkers. A son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, deputy, corporal, sergeant and man that will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
