Shirley began her early career as a stockbroker, yet eventually realized her true passion was to help others. Shirley then began a long career as a licensed mental healthcare worker, specializing in family therapy.
Shirley married Mac Craig in 1974 and they enjoyed many deployments with Mac’s military career. Shirley loved the symphony, the theatre, fine art, and her community which supported all those opportunities. Shirley and Mac had a love for West Highland White Terriers and had several over their 47 year marriage.
Shirley had three children and Mac had six from their first marriages resulting in 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her brother and parents, her grandson Alex Hare, and step-son Michael Craig. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Tandy Hare (Scott) and Julia Davis (Michael), her son, Paul Newsome (Earlien) and her grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, Nick and Taylor, and five step-children, Kym Craig, Valerie Craig Barker (Rick), Marjory Wilson Cook (Curtis), Deborah Garrell Wallace, and Elaine Craig Bruni (Ray).
