With sad and heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing of our dear mom and grandma, Mary Jane Moody, on June 24, 2022. Mary Jane was born on February 13th, 1924 to Julia and Joseph Kotapish in Cleveland, Ohio. She met her husband while working at Picker X-ray in Cleveland. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Moody, her sister, Evelyn Kuchta and her brother's George and Jim Kotapish. Also, she outlived 3 of her 9 children Robert Moody, Mary Ellen Zimmer and David Moody. She is survived by her children Ray Moody, Catherine Hinds (Spouse Gary), Barbara Moody, Sean Downing (spouse Richard), Mary Beth Stanford (spouse David) and Kevin Moody. Her grandchildren are Kenneth Smith (spouse Stephanie), Patrick Smith, Natalie Hinds (spouse Gregg Megaw), Raymond Hinds Tanner Moody, Sam Zimmer, Michael Stanford and great granddaughter, Jessica LeAnne Smith. Mary Jane was a dedicated employee at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church for 29 years. She was very involved in the church and school. She was an active member in the choir for many years and performed in musicals. When she retired at the age of 75 she moved to Fort Worth Texas to live out her retirement years with her daughter Catherine and her family. She enjoyed world travels with her children, camping, musicals, jigsaw puzzles, bird watching, movies (Lord of the Rings, Hidalgo) and listening to Andrea Bocelli. Mary Jane was an avid reader. She loved playing cards and Scrabble-she was always the winner! The most important loves of her life were her 9 children, who she loved equally. She was a SuperMom! We are so grateful and blessed that we have had so many wonderful memorable years with her that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. God-bless you Mom/Grandma/Friend…. We love you dearly and will miss you always…
Mass will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 12 o'clock noon at Saint Patrick's church, 1507 Trotter road, Largo, Florida. Her burial is 2 o'clock at Sylvan Abbey, 2860 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mary Jane's favorite charity, Defenders of Wildlife, 1130 17th St., NW, Washington DC 20036, would be gratefully appreciated.
