Mary, was born to Frank and Alice Connor on May 6, 1938 in Arcadia, FL and grew up in Bradenton, FL along with her sister Carolyn. A member of the church from a very young age, Mary grew up in the Methodist Church in Bradenton, FL and was a very early member of the Oakhurst United Methodist Church in Seminole, FL, which she continued to support throughout her life.
Mary graduated from the University of Tennessee with a major in English and minor in Biology. While there, she met her husband, Rogers Davidson. They have been married for 62 years. Mary was a devoted homemaker and mother to her 3 children, and continued caring for her children and 5 grandchildren. She enjoyed sharing life with her family and her many friends. She enjoyed playing the piano, cooking, tending her plants, sewing and crafting, working puzzles, and reading books. One of her life goals, believed to be nearly attained, was to read all the books in the library. She loved hearing and telling stories of her children and grandchildren. She truly found joy in most of life and instilled that joy into her children and grandchildren.
Mary was a devout Christian and continued to read and study God’s word throughout her life. Now that Mary has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Mary’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her.
Mary joins her parents, Frank and Alice Connor, and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins in Heaven. She is survived by many loving family members, including husband Rogers, her sister Carolyn, Mark (Sharon), Scott (Julie), and Debbie (Pat), and grandchildren Sam, Taryn, Wesley, Max, and Grace.
There will be a service held at Oakhurst United Methodist Church in Seminole, FL on Saturday, October 8th at 9:30, followed by a graveside service and reception at Serenity Gardens on Indian Rocks Road at 11am. The family welcomes any stories, photos, and memories that Mary’s friends and family would like to share.
