Hart, Margaret “Dorris’, 90, passed away on Feb 18, 2012 at home. Dorris was born in Atlanta, GA where she lived with her parents, Clarence Dorris and Sophie Irene (Brinkman) Hart. After her mother passed away, Dorris’ grandparents, Mr. & Mrs H.C. Brinkman took her to Savannah, GA and raised her as their child until she went to Georgia Southwestern College for Women (now Georgia College and University).
Dorris graduated from in 1947 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. She taught in Augusta, GA from 1947-1962 until she moved to Largo. She taught English, speech and dramatics at Largo Jr. High/Middle School until she retired in 1984.
Dorris was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Largo, Pinellas County Council of Teachers of English, Pinellas County Teachers Assoc., North Pinellas County Retired Educators Assoc. and a long time member of Largo Ladies in Retirement Group.
Dorris would want to thank her fellow teachers, students and their parents as well as her many friends both in and out of her teaching profession in Pinellas County for making her years in Largo so special.
Dorris is survived by her many cousins including, Patricia Powell, Orlando along with her children, Trish and Gary; Barbara (Carlisle) Metts, Leesburg, GA; Carol Nilson Seales, Augusta, GA; Kristine Nilson, Jefferson City ,TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SPCA Tampa Bay, 9099 130th Ave. N., Largo, FL. An inurnment will take place 2:00 pm Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, Largo.
