Jim was born in Rochester, NY, and grew up in the Finger Lake Region of the state of New York.
He graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, Long Island. Upon graduating, he sailed as a Merchant Marine several years before entering the Navy during the Korean War, for which he was a veteran. His education and service allowed him to travel the world. He and his wife, Frances Badger, moved their young family to Tampa where he became a tugboat captain. He eventually retired from the Caterpillar Dealership, Rozier Machinery Company ,where he was parts and service manager. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 45 years, Wendy Badger. Together they shared a passion for travel, boating, preserving the environment, and caring for God's creatures, wild and tamed.
He is also survived by his three adoring children, Robin Logan (Claude), Terry Badger, and
Margie Badger; his grandsons Peyton Logan (Colleen) and Cameron Logan; his brother Tom Badger (Marjorie) of Rochester, NY; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and his loving extended family and friends.
He will be deeply missed and remembered for his integrity, wit , sense of humor, and his loving, kind,
and compassionate heart.
A gathering at 3:30pm to share music and photos with a memorial service to follow at 4pm, Friday, September 17, at the Chapel with the Red Door, Anona United Methodist Church, 13233 Indian Rocks Road, Largo.
