She was born in Webster Massachusetts, daughter of Hugo and Minnie (Schur) Redlitz and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1944.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Surozenski in 1982. Also predeceased by her daughter Carol Priest, her brother Conrad Redlitz of Webster MA, and a sister Gretchen Hoenig of Thompson CT.
Residing in Florida she leaves 2 grandsons, Bryan L. Priest and Larry F. Priest, and 2 great-grandsons Matthew and Daniel Priest. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Oxford MA, and an associate member of The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Largo FL., where she served on many committees at Zion including church council, 11 years as Worship chairperson. Elmira was founder of Zion’s monthly newsletter, “The Century” serving as the first woman editor for 15 years. She was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent for 26 years, and served as president of 2 Women’s societies.
She was a member of the Killdeer Island Club in Webster, and served as secretary for over 30 years, being awarded a lifetime club membership.
She was a member of the Royal Travelers and served as a tour guide.
She retired in 1989 after 42 years of employment at the Duran Candy Company in North Grosvenor Dale, CT, which was a branch of Bordon Co.

A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 4 pm at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 10891 102nd Avenue, Seminole, FL. 33778 and then again at the Zion Lutheran Church, 70 Main Street, Oxford, MA 01540 on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10 am with burial to follow in Mount Zion Memorial Cemetery.
