Clayone McElhaney

McElhaney,Clayone Frances "Connie", passed away January 24, 2011 in Largo, Florida. Connie was born in 1919 in Detroit, Michigan,to Clayton and Leone Johnson. A graduate of Mackenzie High School in Detroit,she earned her bachelor's degree in art and French at Albion College in 1941. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority during college and continued through the rest of her life. The year following, she married Ordell W McElhaney. A long time resident of Albion, Michigan, she taught briefly at Gardner Elementary. Active in community affairs, she served as president of the Albion Hospital League and was a member of the

women's ELT Club, Review Club, and several other organizations She and husband "Mac" were active members of the Albion First United Methodist Church. They resided at Imperial Point in Largo, Florida for many years. There, Connie founded the Tuesday Club to take

advantage of localculturalofferings. They attended Anona United Methodist Church, Largo.

Connie was preceded in death by husband Mac, and is survived by children, Claudia Leonardi, Indian Shores, FL and Douglas L. McElhaney, St Petersburg, Florida. She had one grandson, Leo (Nikki)Leonardi and great granddaughter, Aelia Leonardi and great grandson, Marco Leonardi. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 600 E. Michigan Ave., Albion, MI 49224 or to Suncoast Hospice. Friends may call from 5-7 today (Wed) at Moss-Feaster Funeral Home,13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo. A funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday at Anona Chapel of Prayer, Largo.
