Audrey Jean Peterson

88, of Largo, passed away February 5, 2017. She was born in Clear Lake, Iowa on August 13, 1928. She is survived by her sons, David, Steven, Michael (Debbra), and Jeffrey (Missy); and her grandchildren, Cody, Jessie & Jake, Kona & Garrett. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl & Hallie Mack; and her brother, Richard. Audrey taught swimming for the Red Cross at Clear Lake, Iowa for several years. Buses bringing students from other towns totaled 1,500 one year. She taught & participated in water ballet for Governor’s Days there. She represented her school, city, college and county in beauty contests. She sang in church choirs and solos for 60 years. She attended Mason City Junior College and the University of Northern Iowa. She married Bill J. Peterson June 16, 1951. After her sons were in school, she finished college at the University of Northern Iowa in 1969. She taught for a few years in Illinois. Audrey moved to Clearwater, Florida in 1987, joining the United Church of Christ from her former congregational membership in Iowa. She volunteered in both church and city where ever they lived. Along with the above interests, she enjoyed bowling, scuba, golf, tennis, bridge, and birding. She will be remembered by friends in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana & Florida.
