Albina Macyauskas Walsh died on August 4, 2019. Known as Macy, she was born on December 15, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, the third child of Lithuanian immigrants. Macy met her loving husband Dale (deceased) at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, from where she graduated in 1952, receiving a BS in Physical Education. She taught physical education to junior and senior high school students in the Cleveland, Ohio Public School System. She later was an administrative assistant at Saint Louis School in Cleveland Heights, where she was loved by the nuns and hundreds of children.
Macy loved gymnastics and was proud of her roots learning the sport at Turnvereins German-American gymnastic society in Cleveland.
Moving to Florida in 1985, Macy was very happy with her water views and living on Island Estates, Clearwater. Macy enjoyed her positions at Morton Plant Hospital, where she was the Volunteer Coordinator for 12 years, followed by 9 years of work at the Joslin Diabetes Center.
She was a life member of the Indiana University Alumni Association, and participated in many organizations to include: Island Estates Women’s Club, Suncoast New Neighbors, and Saint Brendan’s Catholic Church in Clearwater. Macy also served as the President of Cleveland, Ohio Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, member of the Panhellenic Association; and President of the Lithuanian Women’s Club in Cleveland. She enjoyed playing bridge (particularly in tournaments), swimming, cruises, and theater. She loved travel, especially visiting relatives in Lithuania!
Macy’s loving children are: Daleen Arison, RN, and husband Bill, Fairlawn, Ohio; Emmett Walsh, Architect, Gulfport, Florida; Colonel (Retired) Shawn Walsh and wife Allison, Portsmouth, New Hampshire; and Kelly Macy, DPT, Davis, California. Macy is missed by her grandchildren: Dan and Tommy Arison; Shamus and Amelia Walsh; and Grace, Dale, and Kelsey Calhoun.
Macy’s visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 4:00 - 6:30 pm at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL. Macy’s final Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10:00, Saint Brendan’s Catholic Church, 245 Dory Page, Clearwater, FL. Mass will be followed by a light lunch.
