Thomas, age 99 went to be with the Lord, August 26, 2011. He was a long time resident of the Lansing area, spending thirty three years in Colonial Village and thirteen memorable Florida retirement years. A resident of Sterling House of Delta, assisted living.
Thomas graduated from Haslett in 1929. He was married to Marian for seventy two years, until her death in 2009. He was formerly employed by Michigan State College, Fisher Body and twenty six years at the Lansing Post Office. Thomas’s favorite memories were of world travels. He attended South Baptist Church from the mid-1960’s.
He is survived by his children, Pamela (Chuck) Hawkins and Craig (Candice) Devlin of Lansing; grandchildren, Kim (Jeff) Garczynski of Pontiac and April (Mark) Anderson of Mason; great-grandchildren, Heath Hazard, Tiffany Hazard, Wade Hazard, Clayton Hillier, Brayden Anderson, Jayson Anderson and Kaithlyn Anderson; two great great-grandsons, Jordan Ellsworth and Logan Hazard.
Thomas’s family expresses their sincere appreciation to the entire caring staff of Sterling House of Delta where he lived for nearly four years. You are the very best! They also wish to thank Hospice Advantage for their extended months of loving care and support, which provided Thomas many extra special comforts. Thomas’s last days were at the Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte, a wonderful facility.
Friends and family are invited to a luncheon at the Brookshire Inn, 205 W. Church, Williamston, Tuesday August 30, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. Following the luncheon the family will receive friends at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing from 1 – 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. A private family burial will follow in Rowley Cemetery, Williamston. The family request that contributions be made to Hospice Advantage, 801 S. Waverly Road, Suite 304, Lansing, MI 48917 or Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 S. Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813 in memory of Thomas.
