Shirley Ann Brickner went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2024, at home. She was the wife of Thomas Brickner. They shared 26 years of marriage together. Their marriage began with a wonderful Australian honeymoon.
Shirley was born in Denver, Colorado, the second daughter of John and Viola Blobaum. John owned a small trucking company and was often on the road. One day John returned home, Shirley cried and would not go to her dad. John sold the trucking company and bought a farm so his children would know him.
The farm was near Hudson, Colorado and Shirley spent her growing up years helping her family have a successful Dairy. She was active in 4H and in Grace Lutheran Church where her family attended regularly. She graduated from Hudson High School and worked for a time in Denver at the telephone company.
Later, Shirley moved to Michigan. Where she raised four children Pam, Kris, Dawn and Bryon. Shirley later worked at Wyeth Corporation in Mason then General Motors.
Shirley always looked so put together and was meticulous about her dress. She enjoyed playing board games and nearly always won.
Shirley and Tom lived 26 happy years in Grand Ledge, Michigan in a house Shirley loved. Tom cared for his flowers and enjoyed working outside. They spent many winters in Green Valley, Arizona with family. Recently they moved to Lansing, Michigan to enjoy their later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Viola. She is survived by her loving husband, Tom Brickner; her siblings, Sharon Rowe and Jackie Jensen; her children, Pamela (Roger)Herbert, Kristi (Gary) Cater, Dawn (Bryon) Kibbey, Bryon (Shannon) Yennior and many grandchildren and great grandchildren; Tom’s children, Jeff (Bec) Brickner and Lisa (Steve) Wade.
Shirley and Tom were active members of Grace Bible Church in Lansing, MI. They enjoyed many close friends and church activities.
Shirley loved Jesus as her Lord and Savior and is now in His loving care. Tom and Shirley were blessed to be able to tour the Holy Land with her sisters, Jackie and Sharon. They walked the Via Dolorosa where Jesus walked.
The funeral service will be held on October 19, 2024, at 12:00pm at Grace Bible Church 1000 S Canal Rd, Lansing, MI 48917. Visitation will be held from 11:00am – 12:00pm prior to the service. Lunch will follow service at the church. Interment at 3:00pm Maple Grove Cemetery at 213 N Jefferson St, Mason, MI 48854
