Sandra Louise Strong, beloved sister and aunt, transitioned peacefully on March 20, 2025, in Lansing, Michigan. She was born Feb 4, 1955, to Ollie and Edward Strong, Sr., who predeceased her, in Sherman, Texas.
Sandy attended Central High School in Detroit. She became a licensed hair stylist after graduating, then worked at Chrysler Plant, and retired after 10 years. Sandy had quite an eye for fashion. She enjoyed caring for and dressing children very fashionably, especially her dear niece, Peiton. Sandy was always quite the defendant and protector of her family, whom she loved dearly. To know her was to love her once you got past her moods, but that was because she loved passionately and deeply. One of her hobbies was putting together thousand-plus pieces of puzzles and transforming them into beautiful pictures. Sandy faced various health challenges during her life. She always stayed up-to-date on what was happening and newsworthy in the world. Sandy loved watching Spartan basketball and football games.
Surviving Sandy are her siblings, Betty Siders (Norman), Mahalia Dianne Paynes, Anna Strong Ferguson, Karla Strong (Jeff Sutton), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Strong Jr. and her brother-in-law, Joel Ferguson whom she was a wonderful caregiver for.
Go Green!
Per Sandy's wishes, there will be no formal services at this time. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandy's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's research Hospital.
