Mildred “Millie” M. Monroe Pope Sebrell Swartz, 91, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away July 18, 2015. Millie was born February 1, 1924 in Lansing to George Albert and Beulah Mae (Butters) Monroe. She was employed by the State Highway Department. Throughout the years Millie held many offices at both the state and local levels. She belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #701 where she volunteered thousands of hours, and served as State President in 1981-1982. Millie was preceded in death by her second husband, Richard Sebrell; her third husband, Edward Swartz; son, Charles (Jean) Pope; and step-daughter, Janet Gregory nee: Sebrell. Surviving to cherish her memory are sons, Roger (Joan) Pope, Ronald (Renalee) Pope, and Robert (Jennifer) Sebrell; 14 grandchildren; many, many great and great-great grandchildren; and step-children and their families. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912. The family will receive friends from 5:00~8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #701 will hold a brief service at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the funeral home.
