Mary Ann Ide

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Mary Ann Ide, at the age of 75. She departed this world on September 27, 2023, leaving behind a life filled with love and an unwavering devotion to her family. Born on February 25, 1948 in Lansing, MI, to Virginia Mae Black (Cowart) & Robert Alfred Huber. She was lovingly raised by her mother Virginia as well as her stepfather, William Black later in life. Growing up, Mary Ann's mother instilled in her the values of compassion, integrity, and a strong work ethic. These qualities would become the foundation of her remarkable life.

Mary Ann leaves behind her four sons and two siblings: Aaron David Ide of Dallas, TX, wife Karie, Nathan John Ide of Haslett, MI, wife Amy, Drew William Ide of Mason, MI, wife Samantha, Benjamin Ward Ide of Harbor Springs, MI, wife Kristina, siblings Gary Huber and Linda Johnson. Mary Ann cherished her role as a mother and grandmother above all else. Her four sons were her pride and joy, and she always put their needs before her own. From attending countless school performances, giving support with family moves, caring for new grand babies and offering emotional support during life's challenges, Mary Ann's amazing love and guidance shaped her children into the remarkable individuals they are today. She provided them with a strong foundation of values and morals that they will carry with them throughout their lives.

Grandma Ide, as she was fondly referred to, adored her 11 grandchildren; Grace, Isabella, Paige, Brogan, Sophia, Ryan, Ethan, Anderson, Kaitlyn, Jacob and Brooks. She celebrated their accomplishments with the utmost enthusiasm; attending sporting events, dance recitals, calls to inquire how school was going and would always pass out candy on Halloween. She would beam with pride whenever she watched them succeed, always offering her unlimited love and praise. Grandma cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren, whether it was baking Christmas cookies together, a phone call on the drive to school each morning, playing hide the thimble or sharing stories while enjoying her favorite ice cream. Her love for them knew no bounds.

Mary Ann's home was filled with love, plenty of her son’s friends who lovingly nicknamed her Mumzy and always a chihuahua. Her greatest joy was hosting family holiday dinners, where she would always make sure each of her boys favorite dishes were on hand. Her homemade heavenly hash is still a family favorite.

Mary Ann's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth and love will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to experience her wonderful spirit. She taught us the importance of family, of cherishing each other, and of finding joy in the simplest moments of life.

A memorial service to honor Mary Ann’s life will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 4th 2023 at 2pm with visitation beginning at 1pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave. Lansing, MI 48912. A private family burial will follow the service. Her impact on the family will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

There will be a gathering following the burial from 3:30 to 6:30 pm at Lansing Brewing Company, 518 E. Shiawassee Street, Lansing.
