Lois Jewel Jenkins

Lois J Jenkins, 96, of Holt formerly of Lansing Township passed away on December 13, 2022. Born to Ralph and Mildred Monroe in Detroit on March 19, 1926. She was a 1943 graduate of Leslie High School. She married Robert F Jenkins on August 10, 1947, in the side yard at their home to be on West Saginaw Hwy, Delta Township.

She spent her early years taking care of her grandmother and mother until their deaths in 1960 and 1961. She was involved at Central United Methodist Church’s Women’s Group, Youth Programs and served on many committees. She and Bob were very involved with Y’s Men (a service group of the YMCA). Lois was a volunteer for the YWCA, which included Tuesday morning BINGO and on Mondays were spent at Jarvis Acres (St. Lawrence Dimondale) doing and supporting the residents with ceramics. She was a long time member of Eastern Star. She had football tickets to MSU for many years. After she and Bob moved into Lansing Township she started working Elections for the Township. When it was time to go to work, she entered the retail field as a Manager at Jacobson’s, Jones Gifts and Lieberman’s.

After retirement she and Bob spent the winters in Clearwater Florida. She was always ready to take a trip or go to dinner, right up to the end. Cracker Barrel and Bob Evans were always favorites here in Michigan and Kally K’s, Brown Derby and the Seltzer’s restaurants in Florida.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her Husband Bob in 2009 and Son in Law Tom Towsley in 2018.

Lois is survived by a daughter Linda Towsley and a son Robert (Sherri) M Jenkins both of Windsor Township. Grand Children: Denise (Dennis) Kelley, Keri (Matt) Keck, Allen Towsley, Michelle Jenkins and Michael (Jamie) Jenkins. Great Grandchildren Alex, Noah and Ella Keck, Austin Jenkins and Kingston, Keagan and Kamrynn Jenkins.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Summer of 2023.
