He was the first born to JoAnn and Ray Chase on October 10, 1968, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. The same day the Detroit Tigers won the World Series, earning him his cherished nickname, “Tiger”.
Kevin's early years were marked by his passion for music and performance. He attended East Lansing High School where he excelled as a trumpet player and served as drum major during his junior and senior years. His love for drama led him to participate in plays both at Michigan State University and in high school.
An active member of the community, Kevin embraced his role in the Boy Scouts and the Order of the Arrow. Kevin's faith was central to his life, evident in his involvement in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Lansing. He participated passionately in the Boys and Girls Choir, as well as various church ministries, from greeting at the door to supporting orphan care and Angel Tree events. Beyond his church activities, Kevin pursued education at Lansing Community College, focusing on business courses, and was a proud member of the MSU marching band and men's group. He found joy in his work at Jersey Giant alongside his brother Chris, where they were a familiar face to many.
To list some of his community and church involvement, Kevin dedicated his time to service organizations such as being a licensed foster parent, the American Red Cross, filling backpacks and delivering them to Lansing schools, delivering Thanksgiving baskets, leading small group financial courses at Trinity Church of Lansing, serving meals at Lansing’s Veterans of America and City Rescue Mission of Lansing, and most recently volunteering his time at men’s events through The Road Map Ministry and Grant Men’s Ministry. His commitment to community extended to his membership in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks - Capital Area #196 and Alma Elks #1400.
Kevin is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Lynette, alongside their children, Jessica (Tony), Angela, Josh, Dean, Ruby, Mara, Jacob, and Lilia. He was also a loving grandfather to Luca, Aeyla, Marlee, and Giavanna and uncle to Vivian, Nicholas, and Ashden (Olivia). He is also survived by his mother, JoAnn Chase and his brother, Christopher (Kristan) Chase. His father, Ray Chase, preceded him in death earlier this year.
Kevin's zest for life extended to his hobbies; he loved camping, organizing bonfires, taking road trips, and engaging in family activities. His vibrant spirit and infectious laughter made him the heart of any gathering.
Kevin will be remembered for his warm smile, comforting bear hugs, his talents as a singer and actor, and his unwavering dedication to making a positive impact wherever he went. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and joy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
