Kathryn Lilith Hartman, 62, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2019 in Lansing, Michigan, surrounded by her loving family. Kathy graduated from Haslett High School with the class of 1975. A lifelong lover of animals - especially the large cats like cheetahs, jaguars, her favorite was snow leopards. Kathy owned "Bathe and Shave", a dog grooming business that allowed her to surround herself with her favorite dogs every day. She had her dog client pictures everywhere, and she always left her dog friends with a bandanna or ribbon as a personal touch. The doggies became her passion. She spent most of her career in retail optical stores, and commented many times that she would not have spent so much time in optical at low wages had she known that you could make money grooming dogs. Kathy never married or had children, but became “momma” to several “fur children” over the years. She was especially fond of Sunny and Cali. Kathy liked older classic country music, classic rock, contemporary Christian music, and attending concerts in the park at Lake Lansing. The community at Liberty Christian Church became her extended family. There, she found many new friends that she came to cherish. Kathy will be remembered for her faith in God, which gave her courage, determination, and a positive outlook while dealing with many physical issues. Her joyful and peaceful spirit was enjoyed and encouraged by her family and friends until the very end.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merel and Irene Hartman.
She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings, Keith R. (Carol) Hartman, Sheila (John) Hamilton, and Leigh Hartman; and many nieces, nephews, and dear extended family members.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 11am at Liberty Christian Church, 2215 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 19 from 2pm until 4pm and 6pm until 8pm at the church. A final visitation will be held one hour prior to the celebration service.
Memorial contributions may be made in Kathy's honor to Liberty Christian Church or the National Kidney Foundation.
