Joyce was born July 24, 1940 to Norris and Earline Jones (Taylor). Joyce was blessed with a large and loving family which she took pride in nurturing. At the time of her passing, Joyce resided in Lansing, MI but was raised, schooled, and baptized in Clarksdale, MS.
Joyce loved to cook, sew, and do puzzles. She will be remembered for her strong willed determination, no nonsense attitude, family oriented values, and gatherings.
Joyce worked as a Dietician and housekeeper at East Lansing Health Care Facility.
She attended Galilee Baptist Church until her health failed.
Joyce was predeceased by husbands, Jim Houston and Jesse E. Jones, Sr.; children, Jimmielee Houston and Ivery Jones; parents, Norris Jones and Earline (John) Taylor; brothers, John Halbert, Joe Ray, and Timothy Taylor; sisters, Ruby Pugh and Sandra Gentry.
She is survived by her children, James (Michelle) Jones, Dorothy (John) Doss, Julian [Bennie] (Gingi) Houston, and Craig Houston; grandchildren, Arashon, April, and Ivery Jr., Jamela, Tennille, D'Ashia, Chauntell, Lutece, Dijuan, LaQuan, and Maranda; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Minister Robert (Flora) Taylor, Nelse and Robert L Taylor; sisters, Evangelists Charlene Jones, Dosha McCuin, and Carol Taylor; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
