James "Jim" Joseph Starr, age 73, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. He was born on March 7, 1951 in Lansing, Michigan to John and Dorothy (Franc) Starr. Jim graduated from Waverly High School in 1969. He worked as a self-employed carpet installer. He married Michelle Ward on September 9, 1989. Jim was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church.
Jim is survived by his wife, Michelle; siblings, Michael Starr of Lansing, Michigan, Diane (Patrick) Montie of Dimondale, Michigan, and Debbie (Kenneth) Kosloski of Dimondale, Michigan; sister-in-law, Barbara Starr of Florissant, Colorado; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Starr.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman. From October through December, hunting took precedence for him. He was a member of the Michigan United Conservation Club and was a range safety officer at the MSU Demmer Shooting Sports Education Training Center. He was a lover of classic rock, but most of all he loved his family.
"Jim had a subtle comedic personality about him; he may not have said much, but when he did, he would blurt out something funny and everyone would laugh."
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Gerard Church, 4437 Willow Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the start of Mass. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
