Spc Jacob Gomez passed away on June 18, 2023. Jacob Juaquin Gomez was born September 7, 1998 to Alfredo Gomez and Tina Gray in Fort Meyers, Florida. Being the baby of the family, Jacob was always a curious young boy, finding ways to get into trouble here and there. Jacob graduated from Eastern High School and became a fun-loving young man who loved to play video games and spend time with friends. September of 2020, Jacob enlisted in the United States Army in Lansing, Michigan. While training to enlist in the army, he re-kindled a friendship with high school classmate, Alexis Chin. On January 1, 2022, Jacob and Alexis were married. Jacob lived the life he wanted: he was proud of his career, wife, dog and family. He was always fighting to be the last one to say “I love you” and embraced his nerdy qualities.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Alexis Gomez; his parents, Tina Gray and Alfredo (Barbara Villegas) Gomez; his siblings, Diego Gomez, Aisha Khan, Alfredo Gomez Jr., and Celeste Gomez; his best friend. Bree (Brandon Higgins) Dahir and their daughter, Elcy; his mother-in-law, Laura Chin; his father-in-law, Joe (Breanna) Chin III, and his brother-in-law, Joe Chin IV; his dog, Goose; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service honoring Jacob will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 1pm at Central Free Methodist in Lansing. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 12pm.
