Helen O. Christenson was born on September 12, 1920 in Albany, NY, the daughter of Glenn and Blanche Hitchcock, and passed away on September 7, 2015 at the age of 94. She was a pastor’s wife and very involved in all the church’s activities. Her husband most recently served as pastor at Portland Baptist Church. Helen attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. She liked to read and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Christenson; sisters, Velma Fischer, Nina Acker; brother, Lyman Hitchcock; and grandson, Travis Rivera. Surviving to cherish her memory, are two daughters, Darlene (William) Meister and Ruth (Edward) Nichols; son, Dan (Judy) Christenson of Florida; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mabel Hess and Norma Foster. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Grand Ledge Baptist Church, 1120 W. Willow Hwy, Grand Ledge, MI. The family will receive friends at 10:30 before the service. The Inurnment will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary IN.
