Gus Michael Nassar Abood, a son, brother, uncle, and friend to many, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. Gus was born in Beirut, Lebanon on May 22, 1944 to Michael and Nahil Abood. Gus legally immigrated to the United States in 1963, seeking a higher education and a better life as many people do. Gus spent most of his working life in the hospitality industry where he joined Royal Caribbean Cruise Line as a Maître d'hôtel for over 20 years. Afterwards he was involved in a couple of restaurant ventures, however that period was short lived.
Gus decided to take early retirement and remain in California where he had his circle of friends, until his health began to deteriorate due to dementia. His brother, Marvin, brought him back to Michigan where he lived with him until he was transferred to Ingham County Medical Facility until his passing.
Gus is survived by his brother, Marvin (Noel); four nephews, Habib (Vickie) Atallah, Paul (Karyn) Atallah, Jeffrey (Joelle) Abood, and Tony (Charity) Abood. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Suzanne Atallah; niece, Lena Atallah.
