"Preach the Word:" Brother Robertson has admonished over and over That's what he has done down through the years - Preached the Word! Pastor Robertson was born in Traverse City, MI on July 2, 1930. He was the second of four children, two brothers and one sister.
In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a Tank Commander in Germany with the rank of Sergeant.
He was not brought up in a Christian home. In 1953, at the age of twenty-three, he was invited to attend services at Temple Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. It was here that Robertson accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, under the ministry of G. B. Vick.
On May 1, 1954, he married Barbara J Hale. In August of 1954, the newly married couple went to Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. where he graduated in the GREAT class of 57. The Robertsons have four children, three daughters and one son, Cheryl (Roger) Epps, Wayne (Mary) Robertson, Karen Robertson, and Linda (Michael) Cline; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Erwin Robertson is a man of great understanding and wisdom, and a man of prayer. He has preached in numerous churches across this country, including countless revival meetings. He is a great man who is to be greatly admired.
His service to God has spanned more than fifty years at the Capitol City Baptist Church, which was started in Lansing, MI in 1956. In 1979, the church was relocated to Holt, MI on forty acres of land that allowed Robertson to realize a great vision that God had given him - the church auditorium, the Christian school, fieldhouse, picnic pavilion, and two garages. In 1997, still under Robertson's ministry, an all-purpose building was started, completing his long-time dream.. a chapel for our deaf ministry.
Hundreds of precious people have found Christ as their Savior through these past fifty years, and many have surrendered to the missions field and other full-time ministries all under the pastorate of Ervin E. Robertson. For all of these things, Reverend Robertson gives praise to the Great God he has so faithfully served for all of these fifty years.
