Dolores T. DeRose

Dolores was a longtime resident of the Haslett/Okemos area. She was the family’s role model. Family was the single most important thing in her life; caring for her husband and children she went above and beyond. Family traditions and gatherings were very important, whether it was preparing meals for holidays, spending time with the grandkids, and great-grandkids her love was felt by all.

She was an avid MSU fan and loved watching Detroit Tigers. She along with her husband attended several bowl games, including the 1988 MSU Rose bowl. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing bridge. Later in life she worked at Macys. After retirement she and her husband spent many enjoyable winters in Florida.

Dolores is survived by her husband of 66 years, Victor; her six children, Susan (David) Wilcox, David DeRose, John DeRose, Nancy Baran, Mary Trosko, and Steven DeRose; twelve grandchildren, Ryan (Kacie) Wilcox, Chris (Danielle) Wilcox, Elizabeth (Kevin) Hedley, Matthew DeRose, Daniel DeRose, Michael (Jami) Baran, Robert (Samantha) Baran, James Baran, Victoria Trosko, Sarah Trosko, Alexandria Trosko, Jaden DeRose, and nine great-grandchildren. Her sister, Betty (Jack) Maule and brother, Jerry (Tina) Schweda.

Preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Helen Schweda; sisters, Eleanor Bennett and Joan Patterson; brothers, Leonard, Jimmy, and Richard Schweda.

Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at St. Martha's Parish, 1100 W. Grand River Ave., Okemos, Michigan, with visitation 10-11 AM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Dolores to either Hospice of Lansing, 3186 Pine Tree Road, Lansing, MI 48911 or MSU Division of Human Anatomy, East Fee Hall 965 Fee Rd., A519 East Lansing, MI 48824, which is a willed body program supporting medical education.
