Charles was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 19th, 1952, to parents Melvin and Helen Browning. He was a member of the final graduating class at Detroit Cathedral and proud graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. Although most of his professional career was in the banking industry, he put his degree to use as a licensed Private Investigator in addition to years with Sparrow Hospital as a security guard.
"Chuck", as his friends and family knew him, loved a cold beer and a cigar out on the golf course or relaxing on the shore of Lake Huron reading a Tom Clancy novel or catching up on Nation Geographic magazines. He made friends everywhere he went, including his favorite watering holes, Arts Pub and Leo's Outpost. He was known for making everyone he met feel special and seemed to know someone by name everywhere he went. Forever a proud Spartan, he loved watching the Green and White any chance he got, along with all of his favorite Detroit sports teams. A family man through and through, Chuck often showed his love by cooking big family dinners and even refusing to allow anyone to help clean up. Chuck will always be remembered for his willingness to help others in need and for his infectious and heart warming smile.
He is survived by his two sons, Ryan and Jason (Chana) Browning, life partner Mary Bolt, Step-Son Jason (Apryl) Lowe, father Melvin Browning, siblings Tom (Karen) Browning, Judi Dailey, and Nancy (William) Ware. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Browning and wife Sue Browning.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks for donations to the American Cancer Society, the Wounded Warrior Project, and/or the ASPCA. A private celebration of life has been planned for close family and friends.
