Rod was a loving husband, Dad, and Papa. Rod married his wife Cathy on November 30, 1991, and shortly after welcomed three children Meaghan, Kara, and Liam into the world. Rod loved traveling with his wife and children. He was able to visit Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, and many places throughout the USA and Canada.
In his spare time, Rod loved to tinker with old hot rods, woodworking, tractors, and remodeling various household projects. He enjoyed swimming, cooking, BBQing and smoking various foods. He enjoyed hosting gatherings with friends and family. When he found something he loved he tended to research and collect it whether it be watches, Betty Boop memorabilia or Irish Whiskey to name a few.
Roddy loved when he came home and was greeted at the door by his Whiskey girl all excited to see him and he loved spoiling her with treats and toys. Rod battled cancer and trauma from a car accident, but his perseverance and resilience never kept him out for long.
He completed his millwright apprenticeship and worked at sawmills and various other facilities. He has been at Heidelberg Cement over 30 + years starting as a millwright and currently as maintenance manager. He enjoyed the challenges of his different positions and meeting and working with so many people over the years.
Rod is an inspiration to us all, on living life to its fullest, his joy for all things will be carried on in the loving family and friends he leaves behind.
