Glen Sheardown

Glen is survived by his wife Helen of 61 years; children, Thea (Bill) of Kelowna, Arlana of Langley, Stephen (Kelly) of Stratford, Ontario and Dean of Richmond; five grandchildren; Elizabeth, Maggie, Joshua, Maria and Kayla (Tyrel); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Jennie Sheardown of Hamiota, Manitoba and his six siblings.

Glen was born on September 19, 1935 in Hamiota, Manitoba. He moved to Vancouver in 1956 and met the love of his life Helen in 1959. They married on September 29, 1962 at St. Augustine’s in Vancouver. He worked for CP Rail for ten years before making the move to Air Canada in 1966. He retired from Air Canada after almost 31 years of service in October 1997. He was a volunteer firefighter in the 1960’s in Richmond, B.C. He was an avid fisherman and loved to travel the world.

Glen was an active and dedicated member of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church in Richmond and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Langley. As a Knight of Columbus in both Richmond and Langley, he assisted with Pennies from Heaven, selling tickets for the annual Knights car raffle, and loved to serve at the parish pancake breakfasts. In his retirement he spent countless hours volunteering; 19 years at the Richmond Food Bank and the Christmas Toy Drives.

He loved having family celebrations and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was dearly loved by all. He will be remembered for his happy smile and love of life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 20676 Fraser Hwy, Langley B.C., with visitation prior to mass and a reception to follow in the church hall. Internment to follow at the Gardens of Gethsemani Cemetery in Surrey, B.C at 2:30pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Glen’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations to Langley Hospice Residence, would be appreciated. The family would like to thank Dr. David Richardson, and the amazing staff at Langley Hospice Residence for their dedication and care.
