Betty (“Elizabeth Alexander”) peacefully passed on April 18, 2022. Betty was born on July 5, 1939 in Prince Albert, Sask. She is predeceased by her parents, James and Mary Cook, her husband Nelson and son Ricky. She is survived by her son Randy, sister Linda, brother Charles, nieces and nephews.
At the age of 19 Betty joined the Royal Canadian Airforce where she met and married Nelson. She gave birth to her two sons while stationed in France.
After serving in the Airforce Betty and Nelson moved to the West Coast making their home in the Lower Mainland and 100 Mile House. Betty was a passionate artist and business woman owning and operating Ceramic Studios in Haney and 100 Mile House. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention she was also a hobby farmer in her younger life.
In the early 2000s Betty returned to the Lower Mainland where she began serving the Langley Lions Society. She made many lasting friendships, received numerous awards including Lion of the Year 2007-2008 and a lifetime membership. She was proud of the work the Lions do, in particular Evergreen Timbers Assisted Living Community and housing for those in need.
Betty will be remembered for her generosity and compassion, her creativity and laughter but most especially the love she gave us.
