Sarah (Sally) Karns, 89, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2024 at her residence at Carroll Place. Sally was born in Lakewood, Ohio June 5, 1934 to Raymond and Ellen (Burriss) Davis. She graduated from Westlake High School and from the College of Wooster, with a degree in Sociology, where she was a cheerleader. After marrying Jim, they lived in Athens, Ohio, Auburn, New York and Nigeria where Jim taught mathematics at the University of Ibadan. The family settled in Lancaster in 1968. Sally was an avid photographer, often developing her own black and white photos, and loved to write, especially the Red Robin letter. She was devoted to her church and family, was a member of the Christian Women's Club, and volunteered at the Ohio Glass Museum in Lancaster. Sally loved to travel with family and friends, traveling to many foreign countries and all 50 states. Sally is survived by her son Ken (Cathy) Karns, son-in-law Jerry Larson, grandchildren; Shanan Peters, Shelley (David) Karl, Angela (Onur) Dizdar, Jared (Eva) Larson, Matthew (Ashley) Karns and Scott (Anna) Karns, Great grandchildren; Emma Karl, Maxwell Karl, Ruby Larson, Kennedy Karns, Cade Karns, Cohen Karns, Charlie Karns and Calum Karns, brother Raymond (Leslie) Davis, niece Tracy (Tom) Tobin, and nephew Matt (Sandi) Davis. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband James, her daughter Deborah Larson and brother, William. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alex's Lemonade Stand in support of childhood cancer research.
