Mary Lou Manson Thompson, 89 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on Monday, October 23rd, 2017 at the Fairfield Medical Center. Mary Lou was born in McConnellsville, OH to Joseph Ross Manson and Julia Cook Manson on October, 12th, 1928. She graduated from Berne Union High School in 1946. Mary Lou enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching, and spending time with family and friends. She was a 25 year employee of the Lancaster City School System, where she had worked as a secretary and printer in the Education Media Department. Mary Lou was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, John S. Thompson; children, Ed (Kris) Thompson, Julie (Richard) Sewell; two grandchildren, Jay (Sarah) Walter, Nancy (Chad) Homan; and 4 great-granddaughters, Kate and Annie Walter; and Alice and Betsy Homan. The family would like to extend a special thank you to friend and caregiver, Debbie Shick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers; James, Joseph, Raymond, and Eugene Manson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 30th, 2017 at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME (436 N. Broad St. Lancaster, OH 43130) at 1:30PM with Rev. Cheryl Foulk officiating. Interment is to follow at Green Mound Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Sunday at the funeral home from 2-5PM.
In lieu of flowers gifts may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Mary Lou’s name.
